We are running a campaign to increase the number of shelters. The goal is to build three more places to shelter at least 245 children who are homeless in Bukavu and Goma, due to the war conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two cities are in the east of the country and in one of the regions most affected by armed militia conflicts. In December, the Christmas campaign accounted for R$ 348 thousand reais, and in January the request for help remains.
To celebrate the construction of the second house for our foster children, a groundbreaking ceremony was held with the volunteers and those responsible for the construction. While construction is in full swing, a house has been rented to house the children temporarily in Goma. In addition, the project was able to purchase a van to transport them around the city.
Another 25 children have been taken I by the "Orphans of Congo" project. On January 27, the first five children arrived at the orphanage in Goma, having been taken from conflict zones. The next day (28), another 20 boys and girls were taken to the same orphanage. The latter stayed one day in the city, and then were transferred to the orphanage in Bukavu. All the new arrivals were fed, bathed, and had medical appointments. Thank you sponsors for being together with us!
she has enough clothes and toys. Since her birthday is a date, we gather to celebrate and give thanks for another year of life and health, there is nothing better than giving back a little of this light to the people who really need it. And it was with this in mind that we chose the Congo Orphans Project, which takes in and helps children who have fled the war in Congo, lost their parents, and are on the streets.” Nathalie Mundy - Maya Mundy's mother
